Wallace claimed by death" Carthage, Sept 2 - The sudden death Monday morning at 7:30 of James Charles Wallace was a shock to his family and friends of Carthage and Moore County. his death was die to a sudden heart attack, it is believed. Mr. Wallace was a leader in the Baptist Church, had been a deacon for a number of years. He was born near Carthage, September 17, 1862, married Miss Nettie Maness in March 1881,, and to them were born 11 children, ten of them, with their mother, Mrs. Nettie Wallace, survive him. The children are: O.D. Wallace, B.C. Wallace and L.C. Wallace of the firm of Wallace Bros., Carthage; Coy Wallace, Walter Wallace and R.G. Wallace of Carthage; four daughters, Mrs. Fulton Sullivan, Mrs. W.E. Porter, Mrs. Wilbert McLeod and Mrs. R.J. Hall, all of Carthage. He is also survived by one brother and one sister, Rev. W.C. Wallace of Lexington, SC and Mrs. Alex McNeill of Hemp, and several half brothers and sisters of Greensboro and Hemp. Funeral services were held from the Baptist Church of Carthage, on Tuesday afternoon at 4 o'clock by Rev. J.W. Ayscue, former pastor and friend of Mr. Wallace, assisted by the Presbyterian minister, Rev. W.S. Golden and Methodist minister, Rev. J.H. Buffaloe. Interment was in the city cemetery."
