From Moore County. Thomas Ritter and wife Margaret v. William Barrett. Regarding 300 acres located on McLendons Creek adjoining Jacob McLendon including the land that Mary Sowell resided on in 1786. The 300 acres was granted to Thomas Knight in 1760 and deeded to Jacob McLendon in 1762; deeded to Isaac Sowell in 1772; Isaac Sowell died in 1784 and land was transferred to widow Mary Sowell and oldest son John Sowell; deeded to Margaret Sowell, wife of Thomas Ritter in 1786. Deeds in the file include 1791 from Thomas Ritter and Margaret Ritter to John Sowell and 1830 from John Sowell to William Barrett Senr. In Jan 1836, Mary Smith and Wm. Wallice/Wm. Smith are associated with the land with William Barrett Senr. as landlord.
