1879, Oct 2 -- Article, Chatham Record [Pittsboro, NC] Newspaper
"Gone for twenty years - Prosperity, NC. Mr. Editor: There is a man in Moore County who returned home last March from Patrick County, VA; he had been gone twenty years; he went away leaving a wife and family in Moore County. When he left this State, his wife did not know where he was. Several years after he went away, it was reported that he was dead and his wife succeeded in procuring her dower, and the rest of the property was sold. After the expiration of twenty years, he returned home, to the great surprise of his wife and daughters. It seemed that his wife, at first, was reluctant to recognize him as her husband, and his daughters, too delicate to call him pa. But he had not talked to his wife and daughters long before he brought forth sweet reminiscences of "twenty years ago", and there was a warm reception with the family. After a few days rest, he went to work on the dower, cleaning up old hedge rows, and repairing the fences; and by diligence and industry, he has made a good crop of corn. He lives in the northern part of Moore county, near the Chatham and Randolph line " [Editor's Note: This article is referring to Bradley "Big Brad" Brady.]
