      Mary A. Barrett [age 78], Moore County, NC resident and widow of William Barett, applied for a widow's pension in Moore County, NC. Dunn stated that her deceased husband served under Captain William Dowd and was drafted at Carthage, NC in Mar 1815. At the time of enlistment, he was described as 21 years 7 months old, 5'10" tall, blue eyes, light hair and fair complexion. He was born Jun 3, 1793 and was a farmer. William Barrett and Mary A. Graham were married Feb 11, 1823 by Eleazer Burkhead, JP in Moore County, NC. William Barrett died Jun 1, 1860 at his residence in Moore County, NC. He obtained a land warrant for his service in 1856 or 1857. A.R. McDonald age 58, Carthage, NC and Lauchlin B. Currie age 57, Carthage, NC , testified to having known Mary A. Barrett for 40 and 54 years respectively. Dr. H. Turner and Thos. B. Tyson testified that they were well acquainted with William Barret and his wife, Mary A. Barrett.
