    Notes
    • It is my belief that Henry Williams is the son of Jeremiah Williams. This is based on several circumstantial pieces of evidence. (1) In the 1810 Census, Jeremiah was listed as having 6 males under ten in his household. At most, three have been identified to date (Jeremiah Jr., John and Matthew); (2) Henry is listed in the Moore County Court Minutes alongside Matthew Williams and John Williams as serving on the road improvement committee. These committees where comprised of men in the neighborhood usually between the ages of 18-50. They were charged with keeping the roads up and cleared. The fact that these three Williams were listed on the same committee indicates they were most likely closely related. (3) Henry Williams migrated to McNairy and Madison County, TN and resided in the same general vicinity as Jeremiah's other children who migrated west. Henry's daughter also married Nathan Wallace's son Everet. Nathan's sister, Elizabeth, was Jeremiah's second wife. (4) Henry named a son Jeremiah W. Williams.

Copies of the first few pages of Maxine Williams McNeill's book "The Williams Family". These pages detail the stories handed down through the generations regarding the Jeremiah Williams family. I can not attest to their accuracy but they are at the very least informative and instructive for others to follow behind with additional research. A great deal of gratitude to Maxine Williams McNeill and the fellow Williams family researchers who put this book together.
