Thomas Fry, of Moore County, petitioned the State for a reduction in his one-year sentence for biting off part of the nose of Francis Wolff due to the need to provide for his wife and children. John B. Kelly, Corn. Dowd, Benjamin Person, John Morison, John Tyson Sen., A.C. Curry and G. Seawell signed the petition along with Fry. Francis Wolff sent a letter to support a reduction of sentence. [Editor's Note: Petition rejected by a joint select committee]
