1836, Aug 27 -- Loose Civil Action Papers, Guilford County, NC
William M. Larrence v. Peter Shamburger. Trespass, harboring plaintiffs wife (Polly Larrance Shamburger, daughter of Peter Shamburger) and enticing her away. Orginally filed in Randolph County but moved to Guilford County upon Shamburger's claim that Larrence's father is a preacher, merchant and tavern keeper in Randolph and exerts much influence and Shamburger lives in Moore County and will not be subject to a fair trial in Randolph. Witnesses for plaintiff: Daniel Cox (deposition from Morgan County, IN), John Hendrix, William Owen, Bennitt Owen, Miles Jordan, Polly Owen, Enoch Spinks, Wiatt Williamson, Horatia Suggs, Brantley Owen and Jacob Lithgo. Witnesses for defendant: Anderson S. Mody, Martha Shamburger, Polly Comer, Horatia Suggs, Phillip Comer and Peter Shamburger Jr.

Notes |
- John Comer died in 1828 leaving a wife and children (none were named in the will). Polly Comer is listed in the 1830 Census age 40-50 with eight children. Living beside Polly are Thomas Comer (age 20-30) and Henry Cagle and wife Delilah Comer (both age 20-30). It is my belief that Polly was the widow of John and Thomas and Delilah were two of their unnamed children in the will.
