Mary Campbell, b. 1820 [1, 2] |
Notes |
- Maness family researchers believe these are the children of Henry Maness. They are listed with their presumed mother Mary Campbell in 1850 and have dispersed to other households by 1860. This could be a situation where Henry Maness fathered some or all of these children out of wedlock.
YDNA from a male descendant of Thomas McSwain Maness matches the YDNA of males from the Hunsucker family. That could indicate a different father for Thomas. Thomas Maness was married numerous times. On his 1874 marriage certificate to Nancy Pool, he listed his parents as George and Polly Maness; 1895 marriage to Martha Mashburn, he listed his parents and Geo. Hunsucker (dead) and Polly Maness (dead); 1901 marriage to Sarah Brady, he listed his parents as unknown and Polly Maness.
