George Cagle signed a petition to form Alfordstown as County Seat for Moore County, NC. [Editor's Note: the petition failed. In 1796 the NC General Assembly established Carthage as the county seat. In 1806, it was changed to Faginsville to honor Richardson Fagin. The name was changed back to Carthage in 1814]

George b.1760s. Was presumably the George Cagle who was the executor of the 1799 Will of John Cagle; the possibility might be considered that he was named executor because Jacob, who is assumed to have been the oldest son, had already moved to GA. Remained permanently in Moore County, NC and is listed in the 1790 census [1-2-2] and also appears in the Moore census 1800-1830, the last of which lists him as George Cagle, Sr.; was a large landowner on the Moore County Tax List of 1815. Apparently died in Moore County in the 1830s.
