Celia/Selah Honea (age 75), resident of Copiah County, MS, applied for a pension in Copiah County, MS. Her husband served under Captain William Smith in Mississippi. They were married Nov 1811 at Fair River, Lawrence County, MS and that her husband died Nov 1851 in Copiah County, MS. J.T. Matthews and John J. Robison witnessed her affidavit. On 20 Oct 1876, Martha M. Cooper (of Lincoln County, MS) signed an affidavit stating Selah Honea was 72 years old (born 29 Sep 1804) and her family had lived near the Honea's in MS since 1811. On the same date, Sarah Barrett, daughter of Robert Wilks and Celia Honea, and her husband George H. Barrett filed affidavits stating Sarah was born 29 Jan 1817, married 12 May 1836 and had two older brothers: Tillman Honea (born 1815 and died Aug 1874) and Thomas Honea (born 1813 and moved to TX 25 years ago). Levi Smith and C.C. Barrett were witnesses. On 13 Jun 1877,an affidavit from Celia Honea added the following information: She was born 1796; they were the parents of ten children (only three currently living); Thomas Honea (oldest) was born Dec 1812; Tillman Honea (second child) was born Nov 1814. Celia currently resides at Brookhaven Post Office, Lincoln County, MS. A.L. Conn and G.H. Barrett were witnesses. On 13 Jun 1877, George H. Barrett added that his father George Barrett, in company with Isham Smith (father of Celia Honea) and Wilks Honea all emigrated from GA to Fair River, Lawrence County, MS and all settled in the same neighborhood. Wilks Honea was a member of the MS militia commanded by Capt. William Smith, brother of Celia Honea.
