    Notes
    • Based on the research of Argo family researcher John Hall, it is very likely that William Searcy's daughter "Keron or Kerenhappuch" married William Argo of Randolph County.

This theory is based on several facts:

[1] William deeded his daughter Keron Searcy a tract of land referred to as Morgan's Neck in his will in 1776.

[2] In 1786, William Argo and his wife, Kerrenhappuck, deeded this same tract of land to Edmond Waddle of Chatham County. This deed references that the land had been deeded to them by William Searcy. This deed was also witnessed by Windsor Pearce and Mary Searcy Pearce [daughter of William Searcy].

[3] According to John Hall, William Argo was born prior to 1765 and his earliest child was born around 1780. William Searcy died in 1776 and it is quite possible that Keron/Kerrenhappuck was listed as a Searcy in his will rather than an Argo because they had not yet married.

[4] According to John Hall, one of William Argo and Keron/Kerrenhappuck's grandchildren was named Cary Ann Searcy Argo. This reference came from the "Argo/Argoe Family in America" authored by L. Wesley Argo. While this is more circumstantial, it is quite probable that a child would be named after her grandmother.
