[Editor's Note: deeded to William Gardiner 1770]. 1769, Jul 6 -- Land Grant #1060, Cumberland County, NC William Gardner received 50 acres located on Bear Creek opposite the mouth of Williams Creek adjoining Martin Ott. William Gardner and Mark Shuffield were chain carriers. 1770, Oct 18 -- Deed Book 4 Page 162, Cumberland County, NC Martin Ott deeded William Gardiner 400 acres located on Bear Creek. Owen Carpenter was a witness.
