Mary Edith (December 7, 1873-May 22, 1909) was the first wife of Thomas Franklin Starr, of Silver Hill township, and she had children Ida, Forrest Franklin, Fred, and John Edward, all now deceased. (Only Fred left issue, some in Davidson county, and some in Chatham county.) Mary Edith died in the State hospital at Morganton.
